OTP Gear Exchange is a dedicated Facebook group for OTP members to buy, sell, trade, and recycle used outdoor adventure gear within a trusted community. It’s designed to make quality gear more accessible, reduce waste, support beginners, and circulate equipment among people who share the same values of adventure, sustainability, and community.

 

Members exchange everything from hiking gear, backpacks, boots, camping equipment, tents, sleeping bags, trekking poles, climbing gear, snow gear, water gear, paddleboards, photography equipment, GPS devices, layers, and more. Whether you’re upgrading, downsizing, or helping a new adventurer get started, this group keeps gear moving and keeps the OTP spirit alive.

 

Because this group is OTP-members-only, transactions happen within a community built on trust, respect, and shared purpose.

GROUP RULES

1. Non-Related Items & Posts

  • Only outdoor adventure gear is allowed.

  • Non-gear posts will be deleted.

  • No posts from other groups, websites, links, or Facebook Marketplace.

  • No retail, business, or commercial listings.

  • All posts must be created directly in the OTP Gear Exchange group.

​2. Pricing Your Items

  • Do not sell items above their original value or worth.

  • This group exists to enrich the OTP community. Offer fair, community-minded prices.

  • Giving away or recycling gear is welcomed but not required.

3. Selling Format (Required)

Every “For Sale” post must include:

  • Item name

  • Real photos (no stock images)

  • Price

  • Your location

  • Condition

  • Item description (the more detail, the better)

4. Items Wanted Format

If you’re looking for gear, include:

  • What you need

  • Detailed specs

  • Budget

 

Example: “Looking for a 10° sleeping bag, long version for 6 ft person, synthetic, under 3 lbs, budget $100.”

5. Sold Items

Once your item is sold, update the post by adding “SOLD” to the headline.

​​

6. Duplicate Items

  • Do not repost the same item with new wording or pictures.

  • Delete duplicate listings.

  • Follow the posting limits below.

​

7. Frequency of Posts

  • You may post 1 new item per week.

  • You may repost the same item only once every two weeks.

  • You may “bump” (comment on your post) up to 3 times. More than that = post deleted.

​

8. Admin/Mod Rights

  • Admins and moderators may delete posts or remove members at any time for any reason.

  • If you follow the rules and maintain the flow of the group, this will not be an issue.

9. Transactions

  • All transactions are your responsibility, not OTP’s.

  • Use trusted payment methods.

  • Use good judgment.

  • If an issue occurs, notify an Admin/Mod privately.

​

10. Reporting Posts & Profiles

  • If something feels off, report it immediately.

  • Use the three-dot menu on a post or tag an Admin/Mod.

  • Report suspicious profiles through private message to an Admin/Mod.
