Lava Beds Adventure Trip

Join OTP for this exciting 3 days and 2 nights Adventure Trip. This multi-day adventure is organized and led by OTP.

 

Each day we hike (not crawl) through a beautiful world of majestic caves and lava tubes. Each location on this trip is incredibly different from one another. In the evenings we camp under a star-filled sky.

Trip Features

Group Activities

  • Each day hike & explore the most unique lava tubes and caves in the park (there are over 100 and OTP brings you to our favorite ones)

  • Drive through the park and admire scenic views

  • Participate in a unique silent meditation inside a lava tube

  • Hike to a lookout tower on top of a Butte and view the vastness of the park

  • Enjoy relaxing campfires in the evenings at basecamp

  • Visit the park visitor center & learn about the history of the area & native people

  • Camp as a group and enjoy the OTP basecamp experience

  • Meet, connect, and share this lava beds experience with OTP people who have a passion for the outdoors

OTP Basecamp

  • Two private vaulted toilets at basecamp for OTP

  • Additional bathrooms with sinks & flush toilets in the campground

  • Fresh running water from a spigot 

  • Large fire pit at central basecamp 

  • Picnic tables

  • Private driveway to basecamp

  • Trash and recycling bins

  • WiFi available at the visitor center

Level of Activities

Intermediate

Activities include climbing up and down stairs inside the cave, crouching in short sections, exploring in the dark caves and lava tubes with headlamps and flashlights, and light rock scrambling. We will also hike uphill to a lookout vista.

Hiking will be less than a few miles each day.
