Matthew Storm began the OTP Mountain Summit Challenge in 2024. On July 17, 2024 Matt completed the 2024 MSC, becoming the second person in the MSC history to accomplish this. He completed the Expert Level earning the his spot on the OTP Expert/Pro Mountain Summit Team.

 

Mattew Storm breaks many traditional mountaineering "rules" but this is the secret to his success. The majority of his summits are completed going solo and starting late in the day. He would be on the summit at sunset then climb/hike down at night. This strategy helped him completed a remarkable 57 summits in 2025 (180 points) and 44 summits (127 points) in 2024 and earn the top-ranking climber in these two Challenges.

MSC 2025: Completed 57 summits and 180 points, including 16 Advanced and 8 Experts. His Experts: Borah Peak (Idaho), Mt. Shasta, University Peak, Mount Harrington, Mt. Russell, Middle Palisade, Mt. Lyell, and Cloudripper.

 

MSC 2024: Completed 44 summits and 127 points, including 10 Advanced and 5 Experts. His Experts: Thompson Peak, Mt. Abbot, San Jacinto (Cactus to Clouds), Mt Theilsen (Oregon), and Matterhorn Peak.
